People leave unusual things in the library sometimes. Here are some of the more bizarre items I have found in recent memory:
- A brand new looking pair of purple lace panties in the trash in the women’s bathroom.
- A well-worn, but clean, and VERY large pair of jeans in the children’s department trash.
- A single white rose. I kept that one, it was very pretty.
- Someone’s entire, brand new looking baby stroller complete with diaper bag, purse and assorted toys. No baby. This one sat in the kids area for about 10 hours before a frantic looking woman ran in, said “oh thank God” and ran back out.
- A very beat up US flag.
- A professionally framed sign that read “Jesus is the Reason for the Season.” I found this one in March.
- A rake.
- A fishing pole.
- Tomatoes and onions, which had been shoved under a couch cushion.
- An entire can of Vienna sausages and one of frosting. This was later claimed by a teen who came in looking for the items he had forgotten, then proceeded to eat both cans in front of me, scooping the frosting with his fingers and drinking the Vienna sausages liquid and all.
