Hi everyone! If you found your way here, it is either because you are a librarian or a lover of libraries – so to you, I say welcome! Look around! Grab a book. Tell me about it so I can add it to the never-ending pile known as “Mount To Be Read,” or “Mount TBR” for short.
So who am I? I am a librarian. I have been one OFFICIALLY, with a degree and all, since 2016, but have worked in public libraries for 13 years. In that time I have worked in Youth Services, Teen Services, Spanish Outreach Services, and have been a Branch Librarian, department manager for two departments and now am working with Higher Needs Adults.
What this mean is: I have seen some STUFF.
People have this assumption that libraries are lovely quiet, peaceful places. That we get to sit around and read all day in the quiet surrounded by lovely books.
They forget: EVERYONE is welcome here. EVERYONE…
Kids, parents, senior citizens, teens … but also murderers, molesters, people with SERIOUS mental health issues, substance users, and just plain weirdos. We love all of them, but sometimes… they can be a lot.
Some of this blog will simply be me telling you what libraries are really like, but for the most part I will be posting things about my programs in an effort to help other librarians. I hope you find something you like, maybe have a giggle and maybe learn something you never knew about libraries.
Thanks for stopping in.
